Richard Young is a full-time landscape and wildlife photographer based in Wanaka. He has been guiding groups of photographers in New Zealand since 2010, and in 2013, he founded New Zealand Photography Workshops.
Tour Starts – Invercargill: We will meet at Invercargill airport on the first morning or the tour, the tour includes return flights to Stewart Island.
Tour Finishes – Invercargill: The tour will finish at Invercargill airport in the afternoon to meet evening flights to the main cities.
Our Expressive retreats are designed for experienced photographers so we can focus entirely on a deeper more expressive understanding of photography to further develop your own style and vision. You should be comfortable in all your camera settings and shooting in manual mode, as we wish everyone to be on a simlure level so we do not need to teach basic techniques and skills so as to focus on a more creative approach to photography.
Accommodation Type: We will be staying in a 4+ star/lodge for this tour and have the entire lodge booked exclusively for our group.
Single Room Included: This tour included single room accommodation, no single supplement is required for solo travelers.
Food:The price tour includes breakfast at the lodge each morning. Lunch and dinner are at your own expense. We will stop at a cafe/shop for lunch and book a table for the group for dinner each day at a local restaurant. Sometimes evening meal times might be early/late to fit around the time of sunset. New Zealand has great food and caters well for any preferences like allergies, vegetarian etc.
A minimum level of physical activity is necessary to enjoy this tour. Most locations we shoot will require a short walk (15-30mins one way) that are sometimes uphill, over uneven ground, or rocky beaches and you will be carrying your own equipment. On this tour, there will also be one longer walk (45 min one way).. If your fitness or mobility is an issue please let us know.
To offer a creative environment, limited to a group of 6 photographers to have the time and support to develop your photography skills and to fully explore each beautiful location and push creative limits. Smaller groups of up to 3 may only be led by one tutor, with groups of 4-6 with the help of additional tutor or local guide.
A non-refundable deposit of NZD$600 is required to reserve your space for the workshop. The remaining balance is due 45 days prior to the start of the workshop. You may pay in full at time of booking, the balance (minus the deposit) will remain fully refundable until 45 days before the workshop.
